Commission Work

Wild at heart
While they may not be wildlife, our pets (and plants) are wild at heart. Yup, you know that while they love snoozing on the couch they also dream of running through grassy fields, leaping over logs, through streams, and up into the trees.

Oh, and I am 100 percent one of those people who will politely ask if I can pet your dog (or cat, or goat or whatever). This is why I am always honored when asked if I can do a commission illustration of a family pet. I take this request very seriously because I know this is an animal that is so well known from tip to tail that it's critical that I honor what makes every pet unique.

How does it work?
I generally ask for 3 or 4 photos of the animal so I can reference different aspects of your pet. This also helps me to see the personality of your pet. High-resolution images that are candid and well-lit are ideal.

How much does it cost?
I promise I'm not dodging the question, but it depends. Some animals are easier to draw than others. Some requests are of just the head while others are of the whole body. Some are little and some are big. In the end, I start my pricing at $80 for an 8x10 framed, but may go up or down; each commission is unique so I prefer to price each one individually.

How long does it take?
I can usually complete a drawing within two weeks, but I may have other commissions ahead of yours. I also print these using a local company that prints them on professional, high-quality paper stock so their schedule also impacts delivery. If you have a particular deadline, go ahead and reach out and we will discuss options available to get it done just in time.

Commonly called zebra plant, inch plant, silver inch plant or more recently, wandering dude, Tradescantia zebrina is a popular houseplant in the spiderwort family grown for its variegated foliage. Color intensity is greatest in full sun in our area but in more southern locations too much sun will cause the colors to wash out.
